How to Photograph Anime Figures with Your Phone

For a clear phone photo of an anime figure, use a simple background, steady framing and light that reveals the face. Start with an accurate record of the whole piece before experimenting with dramatic angles or effects. You do not need an elaborate studio to see what is working.

Set up without risking the figure

Choose a stable surface and keep the complete base supported. Move clutter out of the frame instead of balancing the statue closer to the edge. Leave enough space around fragile accessories so the phone or your hand cannot catch them.

A plain sheet of paper or card placed behind the figure can simplify the background, provided it is secure and does not press against the piece. Avoid direct sunlight or hot lights on the figure; follow its care guidance during photography just as you would during display.

Find the face first

Position the phone near the figure's eye level for a straightforward portrait. Then try a three-quarter view to show the depth of the pose. Check whether hair, a raised arm or an effect hides the expression.

Tap the face on your phone screen to focus if your camera app supports it. If the face looks too bright, adjust exposure using the app's controls. Keep the phone steady and take several frames rather than assuming the first one is sharp.

Watch perspective and cropped parts

Very close framing can exaggerate the nearest hand, weapon or base. Step back and reframe if the proportions look distorted. Avoid aggressive digital zoom when a small change in camera position will do.

Take one full-body image that includes the entire base and highest accessory. Then take separate detail photographs. A close-up is useful, but it should not be the only record if you want to show what the complete statue looks like.

Edit for clarity

Crop distractions and make modest brightness adjustments if needed. For a product-condition photo, keep the colors and defects faithful to what you can see. Strong filters can make a display image stylish while making it less useful for checking paint or documenting a problem.

Compare the final image with the physical figure under ordinary room light. If the photo hides the face or exaggerates the colors, return to the lighting and angle before adding more editing.
